I thought I’d make the comment about this article from yesterday’s paper (http://strib.mn/2ILSRAu). The article was about Blue Cross’s efforts to hold down spending on health claims.

Insurance is there to pay for your claims. The more claims, the more insurance has to pay. The more insurance has to pay, the more they need to charge you for their insurance.

I just googled “unnecessary healthcare” and got about 31 million hits. Give it a try.

I’m all in favor of great health care sensibly and properly administered. There’s as many opinions on how to do that as there are people getting the health care.

I think getting our population healthier would go a long way to minimizing our need to healthcare services and our need for health insurance.

And in my mind, healthcare is different than health insurance.
